I’m Rachel VerWys and I live in Bellflower, California. Currently I volunteer as the Founding Board President of a proposed charter school, Catalyst Charter School. I studied social work at Calvin College and the University of Southern California where I focused on community organizing, planning and administration. I have worked in community development in my own community for over 10 years through Kingdom Causes Bellflower, an organization, which seeks to love and transform our city in ways no one person or church can do alone. My greatest joy is sharing life with my husband, Ryan, and our three young boys.
CFA’s commitment to build leaders who develop the community’s strengths for transformation is important work that changes lives and cities. I have seen firsthand in southern California how the resources and support that CFA offers engages Christians to love Jesus and others well. Shalom is growing in people’s lives, along neighborhood sidewalks and in local institutions as community leaders implement asset-based community development. I am privileged to participate in serving on the CFA Board of Directors as we seek to sustain CFA’s mission and vision.
